  • When did you know you wanted to spend your lives together?

  • How has your partner changed your life?

  • What qualities or quirks make them uniquely them?

  • What is the most unexpected thing you love about them?

  • What does your partner do that makes you feel most loved or cherished?

  • What are some of your happiest memories together?

  • Is there a song that captures your relationship? Why?

  • Is there a particular scent that always reminds you of your partner?

  • If your relationship were a season, or a time of day, what would it be and why?

  • Is there a place in nature that feels meaningful to you both?

  • Are there any animals, symbols, deities, or spiritual practices that hold special significance in your relationship?

  • What colours, foods, books, films, places, or other things do you naturally associate with your partner?

Thinking About Your Vows

As you begin writing your vows, think about words such as:

  • Promise

  • Commitment

  • Choice

  • Trust

  • Gratitude

  • Celebration

  • Love

  • Growth

You may find it helpful to begin with phrases such as:

  • "I see… in you."

  • "With you, I am able to…"

  • "Because of you…"

  • "I promise to…"

  • "I choose you because…"

Allow yourself to play with your ideas. The reflections above are simply prompts to unlock the words you want to share with one another, your loved ones, and any spiritual or natural elements that form part of your ceremony.

Your vows are a deeply personal and sacred expression of your love and commitment. There is no right or wrong way to write them—only what feels true to you.
