Nicola Moss
Nicky’s art practice has been a means of communing with creative consciousness. This has sometimes led them to sit in specific places on the land—places conducive to quiet reflection, undisturbed and surrounded by the natural elements. In these moments, she close her eyes in a receptive state of mind, opening her mind’s eye to receive incoming light forms or dream-like images. These symbols emerge purely as light forms from source.
Throughout this practice, Nicky has accumulated many sketchbooks filled with symbols since the early 1980s, both in the British Isles and the Americas. These symbols possess a quality of potential, new birth, sometimes playful, and occasionally prophetic. They present mystery and have the ability to adapt to different times and needs, helping Nicky learn, integrate understanding, and grow in consciousness.
Her studio work includes painting, printmaking, and sculpture. They also create art medals, which have gained recognition in the UK and internationally. Additionally, Nicky has a long-standing passion for growing and planting trees. Currently, she is working on an ongoing project to plant and protect more woodland trees at Blervie.
