Oil on Wood
Suzanne is always drawn to the light when she’s out walking. One late afternoon, her attention was caught by a dying tree illuminated by the fading sunlight. As she moved closer, she realised it was anything but lifeless — new saplings were emerging from the decaying wood, a squirrel had turned the trunk into a feeding spot, and the bark was alive with the movement of burrowing insects.
For her, it was a powerful reminder that in nature, there’s never truly an end — life is constantly renewing itself.
The title of the painting was inspired by a song she had been listening to while adding the final touches.
